Cale did not dissapoint tonight, in fact I don't think I've witnessed such an intense performance. He kicked off the set with a viscious electronic reading of "Heartbreak Hotel' - very Caberet Voltaire (I wonder if it was a tribute to their Sheffield roots?!). Of course Cale has been doing this sort of thing for years, and it was awe inspiring to witness such a powerful artist still very much enjoying his music. The band are as equally impressive, all lost in the passion at the heart of Cale's extensive back catologue.

Very pleased to hear 'Perfect' - a lost pop classic that really got the crowd going. "Big White Cloud' nearly reduced me to tears, simply beautiful. "Helen of Troy' and "Dirty Ass RnR' rocked hard, and Cale can still piss all over most so called Punk Rock attitude demonstrated today.

The only downside was the pathetic attempts to control the crowd by a hired heavy at the front of the stage. Cale seemed a little uptight to begin with, pointing out a few members of the audience to his khaki clad pal, who promptly jumped down and dealt with their 'crimes'. A bit intimidating at first, but everyone seemed to relax as the show progressed.

It was great to see Cale is still in such good form. I look forward to more great music from this truly great creative mind.
