Roland GR-500 Guitar Synthesizer

He played this guitar/synthesizer during the Sabotage tours (1979-1980). From What's Welsh For Zen:

My second guitarist, who later went over to Lou, was a synth guitarist named Steve Hammer. I used that guitar for the Sabotage recording and for some of the tour, but the instrument was just to unwieldy in the end and I grew bored with it.
