John Cale
"Cale was clearly nuts, but it made a change to be working with somebody who had energy and who was both gifted and dedicated to his profession."

Lyrics

Cale as a Schoolboy

Autobiography

I never wrote a song called "Cocaine"
I never told a lie
I never wrote a song called "After Midnight"
But my name is Cale
You can call me John
Yes my name is Cale
I know, I know, I know
How that will be

I don't come from Oklahoma
I don't come from the Midwest
I come from South Wales
I come from nearby Swansea
And the name of the village
The name of the village is Garnant
I know, I know ...

You remember when you were a kid
You remember when you were whole
I never remember anything I do
I'll never be part of history
I'll never be part of history
You wanna think about how you like your friends
You wanna think about, if you have any friends at all
Any friends at all
I don't wanna know, I don't wanna know
I don't wanna know how others feel

I never wrote a song called "Cocaine"
I never told a lie
I never wrote a song called "After Midnight"
But my name is Cale
You can call me John
I'll be your friend
I know, I know, I know
What kind of friendship that will be
